I would describe the work I make as a mix between both sculpture and functional pieces of metal art. I like to combine both manufactured steel and scrap metal into my sculpture, as well as incorporating forged elements into my sculpture. I would say that the process of forging steel influences my work significantly. The Idea of taking an industrial material like steel and bringing it to life through the process of forging and manipulating the steel is exciting to me. I feel that hammering the steel brings out a visual warmth to a material that otherwise seems cold and lifeless.
